CONGRATULATIONS x 2 (Through the Season) In the last weeks of Season 2007/08 good news came in "twos". The first congratulatory announcments came in Round 12 when Tim Welsford made his 150th Premier First Eleven appearance. Also in that week Dan Schuppan became number 600 to wear the "Baggy Blue" for the Carlton First Eleven. The following week we noted a second series of double congratulations as Jon Holland was announced a Scholarship recipient to the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. The second note of congratulations that week went to Sam McTaggart as he became player number 601 to wear the "Baggy Blue" for the First Eleven. The next series of double congrats came following Day 1 of Round 14. On that occasion we heartily celebrated two wonderful individual achievements as Tim Buszard (pictured left below) and Tim Welsford (pictured right below) made their first Century scores for the Carlton First Eleven. In "Buzz's" case this is his first ton in First Eleven cricket. For "Woosha" it is his first ton at Carlton. When Carlton's innings (against Northcote) was declared, Buzz was 143 no and Woosha was 140 no. May there be many more centuries in the future.
The flow of congratulations continued following the close of the Season when, at the Cricket Victoria Gala Awards night, Evan Gulbis and Tim Ludeman were awarded places in Cricket Victoria's Premier Cricket Team of the Year.
